Outdoor Master children’s and youth helmets have been recalled nationwide after federal testing found that the products fail to meet the mandatory bicycle helmet safety standard. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the helmets may post a potentially life-threatening risk for the children who wear them.
The helmets do not meet required positional stability and coverage requirements, meaning they can shift or fail to protect a child’s head during a crash.
The Outdoor Master recall affects about 24,300 helmets sold online between June 2024 and February 2025 through Amazon.com and Walmart.com for prices ranging from $20 to $32. The helmets were imported by Maysun Products, Inc., doing business as Outdoor Master, based in Chino, California.
Why These Helmets Were Recalled
According to recall officials, the helmets simply do not offer the protection required by the federal bicycle helmet standard. Because the models included in the recall can move out of place or provide inadequate coverage during impact, a child could face a significantly higher risk of serious head injury or death in the event of a crash.
Although no injuries have been reported, the safety concerns are severe enough that parents are urged to act immediately.
