- The vote can be called in two ways: the county commission can pass a resolution calling for the vote or citizens can submit a petition calling for the vote.
- The petition must be signed by 10 percent of the voters in the unincorporated areas of the county.
- The election may only be held in conjunction with a primary, general or special election held for another purpose in the county.
- The law may be repealed by either a vote of the county commission or by a petition signed by 10 percent of the total number of voters in the unincorporated areas of the county.
